Melissa & Polo--Canton
From the moment Jen stepped in our door, I was impressed. Amazingly impressed. My hyperactive 80 lb puppy, who just loves to tackle, scratch, and pummel visitors, promptly sat at Jen's feet and waited for her okay to be petted. My amazement grew as she taught him how to walk calmly on leash, sit-and-stay for up to 20 minutes, and just be all around more respectful of his human companions. It brings me great joy to say: "Now, I'm the leader!"
Diane, Todd, Jagger & Bueno--Canton
I don't know what we would have done without PRO K-9! When we first got Jagger, we tried to be patient because we knew Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs were skittish by breed. But when he didn't grow out of being scared of his own shadow and wouldn't even go to members of our own family, we knew we needed help. We went through the in home training with Mike and continued with group sessions with Jen, and slowly but surely, Jags became more and more confident and others finally got to see a glimpse of the loving and happy dog he always was with us. Just when everyone was settling in, we had the unexpected addition of Bueno, an Australian Shepherd Mix we rescued from neighbors who weren't taking care of her. It's an understatement to say that Jagger wasn't thrilled with the new addition! When Jen found out the change was posing some difficulties, she came out to the house without hesitation to re-evaluate our situation. We started another session of in home training and now take Jagger and Bueno to group every week. We also started with the "Train While You're Away" Program to help Jagger and Bueno get along better. We still have to work hard to keep everyone happy but our family of four now feels like everyone belongs. Thank you so much to PRO K-9 for teaching us the tools to create a happy home with our two dogs.
Eriq & Loki (CGC)--Livonia
When my pup, Loki, reached 3 months of age it was apparent that professional training was going to be needed, and after a lot of research, I selected Pro K-9 in large part due to their training methods; being animal behaviorists was very important to me. It was also immensely convenient having the sessions at home where my dog is most comfortable. I could not be more pleased with that decision. Jen impressed me greatly during our initial consultation when she was able to take a completely untrained dog and focus his attention onto the task at hand and be obedient within mere minutes. I couldn’t believe it. Over the next several weeks Jen taught Loki what was expected, and then taught me how to communicate those expectations consistently. It worked. Loki is now a very well behaved dog and many people have commented on his excellent behavior. Each week Loki and I meet with a group of other owners to further reinforce everything we learned at home, only now with real-world distractions. This was an invaluable experience for both my dog and me and has made Loki an even better behaved dog when outside. Almost half a year later I had some questions and contacted Jen about it, she remembered Loki and his mannerisms which really impressed me, and she was quickly and knowledgably able to answer them. It is without reservation that I recommend Pro K-9 and Jen to anyone looking for help with their dog!
Christina, Tom & Cooper--Canton
We loved working with (Jen). We were so impressed with what (Jen) taught Cooper and how well he responded to the training. We felt that the personal attention with the home visits was the key to Cooper's success. And it was so nice for us as well! He is now 7 months old and is still doing great. And we come up against a behavior that we do not like, we feel equipped to handle it thanks to all that you taught us. We hope to get to a Socializing Group soon. I would DEFINITELY recommend PRO K-9 to anyone who asks. Thank you again for the time, effort and commitment you put into Cooper's training!
Marcie, Ron & Pepper--Plymouth
We have found the PRO K-9 dog training a very good program. Pepper has responded well and seems to be much more relaxed and happy. I liked the fact that we learned a few new things every week, but practiced and built on the prior training. By the end of the five weeks it all fit together and made sense. Pepper and I walk a mile and a half every morning and sometimes again in the evening. We enjoy the time together, and quite often walk with a friend and her dog. Quite often we run into other walkers and dogs. Of course they are not trained so if I have to I just put him in the sit-stay until they pass. He is getting the hang of it. I also have him do that when my friend approaches to join us and make him sit until I release him. He can then greet her but has become much more polite about it. I would certainly recommend the program. I think the in-home one-on-one is more effective than a group lesson, which we had done before. A friend told me about lessons her dog went to--if a dog was not being controlled the instructor made them leave!
Kristy, Matt & Peyton--Flat Rock
Peyton has always been an extremely playful pup, the poster child for the purebred Husky. As he got older playfulness became aggression and we noticed new behaviors we did not like. We thought we had done everything right--puppy classes at the local Petsmart, private lessons, etc. But nothing seemed to really work. Now 3 years old, the situation had become serious and we knew we needed a professional. We found PRO K-9 while searching for behavior modification experts online and signed up for their Dog Training for Life Program. Our experience has truly been life changing. The first day Jen arrived at our house, we saw instant results. She helped us realize not only did Peyton have a lot to learn, but so did we. Our aggressive, dominant dog was really just insecure and ill-equipped to deal with almost every situation in his daily environment. We had encouraged the bad behavior without even knowing it. The patience, dedication, professionalism, and wealth of knowledge Jen provided to both us and Peyton has been invaluable. She truly is amazing. It is clear she loves what she does and cares about her clients. We are now taking advantage of the weekly Socializing Groups and couldn't be happier. At the last group, we were able to fully participate with the other dogs--this not something that could have ever been possible 5 weeks ago. We want to thank PRO K-9 and Jen for giving us the tools needed to continue with Peyton's training and for improving our family's quality of life. We have and will continue to recommend this program to everyone.
Dave, Julie & Sasha--Plymouth
The entire Ripple family is thrilled with the results of PRO K-9's in-home training with our year-old black lab, Sasha. Prior to training, she was a good dog with some challenges with her manners around friends and visitors to our home. Friendliness is part of her demeanor, but at times, she was simply overly friendly with people. You training techniques helped Sasha in more ways than we can count, but more importantly, gave us the knowledge and confidence to be better "parents" to our lab. We are more than happy to recommend PRO K-9 to our friends, family and others.
Kelly, Brock & Charlie--Plymouth
We had a great experience with Jen and Pro K-9! Our little dog Charlie was having some behavioral issues and problems meeting new dogs and new people. Day 1 when Jen came to our house we realized that we had been doing so many things to enable these aggressive behaviors and had our work cut out for us. Jen was very professional and nice to us and Charlie and we couldn't be happier with the service. We know we still have to work with him everyday but now we have the tools needed to be able to successfully teach Charlie ourselves. We have seen such improvements already and even have our friends and family calling him the "new obedient Charlie"! We couldn't have done it without you so thank you!
Chris, Annie & Lucy--Canton
We are very happy with the Pro K-9 program and (Jen) as our trainer. Within the first 15 minutes of just the consultation session with (Jen), we saw an immediate response from Lucy. After each session we saw the results, which we were very pleased with. We were very much draw to the fact that the training was at our house where we are most comfortable. That made the training less intimidating for the both of us. Your schedule was very flexible, which was very helpful. You were very patient not only with Lucy, but with us as well. That made it a quality event for all of us.
Amanda, Nicole, Ray, Dan & Nannette--Plymouth
Jen and Pro K-9 did a wonderful job with training Amigo (and the rest of us!)! Your expertise in dog behavior and intelligence, specifically with small dogs, was very helpful. Your patience and flexibility allowed us to proceed through the process with success. Amigo is a wonderful member of the family who gives so much love and affection! Thank you, Jen!
Brian, Barbara & Rusty--Northville
Jen has done an excellent job of training our dog Rusty. We were unable to work with him as much as we would have liked because of unexpected conditions, but through the time we were able to devote to his training, he is a much better behaved dog. Jen is competent and always well prepared -- she knows exactly how to achieve maximum results and her love of animals is apparent. We see a difference in how Rusty walks with us and better obedience. We would recommend PRO K-9 and hope to continue with more sessions soon.
Stephanie, Ramy, & Achilles Shaker--Plymouth
Mike made a very good impression on us and we couldn't wait to begin our training. We have already been highly recommending and will continue to recommend Pro K-9 to anyone who is concerned about their dog. We thank you and Achilles thanks you!!
Michael Walding, Sr.--Pinckney
My family and I have a 6 year old Labrador that was in control of the house and had developed many bad habits. This included many serious domination issues. After just a few training sessions, we began to see a huge difference in the way our dog responded to us and began accepting our leadership. I guess you can teach old dogs new tricks. We have been extremely pleased with the knowledge and professionalism of our Pro K-9 trainer. This is the best complete training program that I have ever seen. The follow through and support has been invaluable. We are currently working with Pro K-9 again with a new Lab puppy. After a few sessions we have already begun to see how this training will save us many headaches. There has not been a single situation that our trainer has not had an answer to. Thank you for everything.
Rebecca & Joe--Ypsilanti
We were initially drawn to Pro K-9 primarily because they offered in-home evaluations and training. At the time we had a pet, Remi, that had serious dog aggression issues, so we knew we could not just show up at a typical Saturday morning obedience class. Although we were very skeptical and had initial doubts as to the ability of a positive reinforcement program to be useful in training a dog like ours, the initial in-home evaluation demonstrated just how easy it was to make her sit and come on command using positive reinforcement. In just a few visits, we were shown a variety of simple solutions that had an enormous impact on our ability to curb our dog's inappropriate behavior. It was awhile after Remi passed away before we got another dog. But when we did, we came right back into the Pro K-9 program. Even though J.D. does not exhibit any aggression and does not, from our perspective, have any serious behavioral issues, we came back to Pro K-9 for basic obedience because we knew that they could get us to where we wanted to be.
Kathy Vincent--Westland
BJ has improved greatly. He is still very high energy. I have been told on several occasions how impressed people were with the way he behaved. He is a really smart little guy. I feel he is doing very well and for the most part it has been the training that has made the difference. We were taught the correct way to do things. BJ and I have worked together and the only times he reverts back to bad habits is when I don't get to work with him enough. He needs to have his mind challenged and his body moving to tire him out. I do think this was one of my better decisions and would recommend Pro K-9 to anyone who is having problems with their dog.
Kurtis & Katina Nigro--South Lyon
We would like to thank Mike and Pro K-9 for all the work that they did with our dog Samson. The program absolutely works. Samson has become the dog that we have always wanted. It's quite the compliment to hear the praises that Samson receives on his behavior from everyone. We would recommend this program to anyone that has a dog, young and old. Thanks again.
George & Jennifer--Ypsilanti
Last year we adopted a dog with aggression issues (our second dog). Pro K-9 had been highly praised and recommended to us. On the first visit, changes immediately went into place. They handled our dog's behavior and our behavior as owner/leaders. Over the next several weeks, changes were made that have brought peace to our home, confidence in our abilities as leaders, and even physical health improvements in our dogs. It hasn't been easy making time for consistent training, but it's vital to make the time. The Pro K-9 program gifted us the tools to love our dogs and create the best home we can for them and us! They gave us the confidence to have a fuller life with our dogs, in and out of the home. I'll never forget the first time I saw our dog walk by and even sit next to another dog, I was overwhelmed to tears. I now look forward to the regular socialization classes to continue the process that was started and continues daily.
Mike & Diana--Canton
After the death of our old dog we decided that we would attempt to not repeat the same behavioral mistakes and try to train our new dog the 'right way'--but we were not exactly sure what that was. We evaluated several training agencies and classes and selected Pro K-9 because of their professional behavior and personalized curriculum. Through a combination of Pro K-9's in-home training and their socialization sessions we and our dog have learned the basics of obedience training. The in-home sessions were very helpful as the time was solely focused on us and our dog, in familiar surroundings. The little things that were helpful included evaluating our dog's toys and removing the ones that would encourage bad behavior. Also, information about 'gates', feeding times, exercise, keeping the leash on, and tips on proper play time were all helpful in reinforcing proper behavior.
Christopher DiStefano--Canton
This wasn't just a learning experience for Charlie, I was also being trained on some 'bad habits' I was doing that I didn't even realize I was doing. After the first lesson we had I couldn't believe the transformation in attitude and temperament Charlie was displaying. I caught myself at times sitting back laughing because it was funny and so amazing that he could change that quickly, like flicking on a switch. This is my first dog that I have owned and wanted to start out on the right foot with him. I can't thank everyone at Pro K-9 enough for the wonderful work they all have done with Charlie and I. The group socialization lessons have worked wonders for Charlie's confidence around other people and dogs in different situations and settings. We both look forward to continuing to come to the many offerings of the group lessons to continue to work and tweak our training techniques we have learned.
Liz--Saline
Pro K-9 is great! Their training techniques work much better than the typical methods using food. I can get Roxy to go from crazy-excited to calm by just putting her in a sit-stay for a minute, and I can actually put her in a sit-stay when she is really excited. I would recommend this training program to anyone who wants a well trained dog.
Destinie Adams & Michael Darnell--Ypsilanti
Dog training for us has been so rewarding and well worth every bit of money spent. Even when we go to group classes, if we're struggling with our hard-headed pup, they will help us remember to stay realaxed, refocus, be patient, and be the leader. Dog training has helped us bond with Duke and has been fun for Michael and I to do together. Once you start seeing the work pay off, you will be so pleased with yourself and especially your dog!
Angie & Joe--Canton
Bottom line, we would not still have Jersey had Mike not 'come to our resue'! We wanted a good dog, but didn't know how to make that happen on our own. The socialization classes are a big help for a dog like Jersey. I love that we can go and brush up on our technique and continue to help Jersey beyond the initial six weeks.
